PARALLEL CIRCUIT
In a parallel
circuit, The charges from the Power source simply divides into two or more parts before recombining
to form a complete .
Every load (appliance) in a parallel circuit receives it’s
own voltage.
Features Of a
parallel circuit.
.1) Voltage is the same across each component in the
circuit(very important)
.2) If there is a fault in one component in the circuit, the
other components are not affected.
A good example are the bulbs in our various homes, office complex, when a bulb fails due
to maybe high voltage, the other bulbs continue to perform their duties .The do
not all stop because of the failed bulb.
It is worthy of note that most times in real life scenarios,
both series and parallel circuits are often combined together when designing a
Solar energy system
Applications of Series and Parallel circuit.
TWO GOLDEN RULES
RULE 1
In a series circuit, Current (I) remains
constant while Voltage (V) Increases
RULE 2
In a Parallel circuit, Voltage (V) remains
Constant while current (I) increases
Applications of Series and Parallel circuit.
Solar panels and Batteries are considered power sources.
Multiple power sources can be combined in a circuit, power sources are usually combined in series or in parallel depending on the outcome required.Simply put, when power sources X,Y,Z are combined in series, it has different features and characteristics compared to when the same power sources X,Y,Z are combined in parallel.
In real life scenarios, series and parallel circuits can be combined to form a single circuit.
Power sources arranged in series
When power source
e.g Batteries or Solar Panels are arranged in series, the current remains
constant ( In a series circuit the current
remains the same across all the components), while the voltage increases. The overall
voltage is the sum of the individual voltage of the components in the system.
Power Sources
arranged in parallel
When power
source e.g Batteries or Solar Panels are arranged in parallel, the voltage
remains constant ( In a parallel circuit the voltage remains the same across all the components), while the current
increases. The overall current is the
sum of the individual current of the components in the system.
To set-up an efficient and safe Solar Energy system, you have to achieve a balance between the voltage value and the current value of your system.
